The Prohibition Room
The Prohibition Room serves as an intimate, private dining room with an interactive wine and dining experience, but did you know it’s steeped in history?
Broussard’s first opened its doors in 1920 when prominent local chef Joseph Broussard married Rosalie Borrello. The two moved into her childhood home on Conti Street and later purchased the land in 1929. Together they lived in the apartment upstairs, while Broussard worked downstairs to create a five-star restaurant combining local Creole cuisine with classic French dishes inspired by his formal Parisian culinary training.
The elegance of the Prohibition Room serves as an intriguing backdrop to its history. In January 1920, Prohibition went into effect. As the tale goes, Broussard’s was raided; however, no goods or evidence were recovered…it is rumored that they hid the bottles behind the iron fireplace covers. Find nothing, say nothing…

Located in the heart of the French Quarter, Broussard’s offers a timeless design that perfectly complements any wedding style. Our romantic courtyard features the oldest wisteria vine in the Vieux Carré, while our three interior dining rooms—the Napoleon Room, the Magnolia Room, and the Josephine Room—provide intimate spaces packed with elegance and Southern charm.
As a staple of New Orleans fine dining for 100 years, Broussard’s guarantees delicious cuisine for your wedding meal. Our award-winning culinary team will work with you to create a specially curated menu for your guests.
We are happy to accommodate weddings of all sizes, from a cozy 50-person gathering in the Josephine Room to a 650-guest extravaganza when combined with the Hermann-Grima Museum.
Corporate & Social Events
Broussard’s hosts roughly 90-100 corporate events per year, ranging from intimate client dinners of 20 to large receptions of up to 650 guests. Our Special Events Team has years of experience working with national and international destination management companies and corporate event planners, as well as corporate groups booking directly. Their expertise creates a streamlined and professional event experience.
In addition to corporate clients, Broussard’s also hosts birthday parties, anniversary parties, Mardi Gras celebrations, and other social events.
